So, yes, I have yet another kitten. It was another kitten found in that wretched situation - a littermate of the kitten already with me. So now I'm the proud new mom of 2 kittens. I think I'm crazy.
The little black one refused to eat anything so I gave her some wet food. Not a lot; it was just something to get her eating and drinking. I still don't know if she's urinated or pooped, but after using a warm cotton ball on her bottom, I'm assuming she'll go when she has to. The new kitten is a tort of some type - gray with orange. She is just a tad bigger than the black one, but they act like they don't know one another.
I gave them both a quick bath this afternoon in case they had fleas. I didn't see any, but I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry. They also really had an odor to them - more than likely because of their living conditions. They smell better now. They're both in the bathroom together and I'm hoping they'll make like bunnies and comfort each other in their new surroundings. There's no fighting, but the bath and neutral territory should help them bond.
I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the vet. They're both going to get a check-up along with a fecal float and their first series of vaccines. They'll be getting blood work to test forfeline leukemia and aids at the next visit. Financially I just can't this week and the vet agreed it was okay to wait. I'm looking at $150 for the two girls tomorrow and that's not including worm, flea, or mite treatment if needed. But they need to go and since I agreed to adopt them I have to do what I have to do.
I'm more comfortable with everything, but it's overwhelming too. I've not eaten at all yet today and I need to do that. I think I'll cook dinner when I'm finished here.
So...here are the pics. Sorry they're grainy - it's because they were taken with my camera phone right after their bath.
The black little girl.
And the tort. Also a female from what I can tell.
I need names! The poor vet has 'em down as kitty 1 and kitty 2 .
