So, yes, I have yet another kitten. It was another kitten found in that wretched situation - a littermate of the kitten already with me. So now I'm the proud new mom of 2 kittens. I think I'm crazy.

The little black one refused to eat anything so I gave her some wet food. Not a lot; it was just something to get her eating and drinking. I still don't know if she's urinated or pooped, but after using a warm cotton ball on her bottom, I'm assuming she'll go when she has to. The new kitten is a tort of some type - gray with orange. She is just a tad bigger than the black one, but they act like they don't know one another.

I gave them both a quick bath this afternoon in case they had fleas. I didn't see any, but I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry. They also really had an odor to them - more than likely because of their living conditions. They smell better now. They're both in the bathroom together and I'm hoping they'll make like bunnies and comfort each other in their new surroundings. There's no fighting, but the bath and neutral territory should help them bond.

I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the vet. They're both going to get a check-up along with a fecal float and their first series of vaccines. They'll be getting blood work to test forfeline leukemia and aids at the next visit. Financially I just can't this week and the vet agreed it was okay to wait. I'm looking at $150 for the two girls tomorrow and that's not including worm, flea, or mite treatment if needed. But they need to go and since I agreed to adopt them I have to do what I have to do.

I'm more comfortable with everything, but it's overwhelming too. I've not eaten at all yet today and I need to do that. I think I'll cook dinner when I'm finished here.

So...here are the pics. Sorry they're grainy - it's because they were taken with my camera phone right after their bath.

The black little girl.

And the tort. Also a female from what I can tell.

I need names! The poor vet has 'em down as kitty 1 and kitty 2 .

Awww ain't they the most cutest little things!...just look at those sweet innocent faces...they are both just adorable.

I hope everything goes well at their vet visit

Thank you. I think they're pretty cute myself ;).

They've dried off and I put them back in the crate upstairs. They seem okay. I'm always a worry-wart, but they really do seem alright. I'm going to feed them in just a bit and hopefully they'll both eat at least a little. Then I'm going to have to wait and see their litter habits. I really need to see that black one "go" because I haven't yet. I'm sure it's nothing, but there I go again.

I'm sitting, relaxing, and having a snack right now. It's the first time all day and I'm tired. I still have to clean rabbit pens tonight too.

:yawn:I'm tired just thinking about it.

MINE!

She is a cutie patootie, isn't she? She has dirty ears even after her bath and that probably means ear mites. But everything else looks good. She's an interesting little girl and I can't wait to get to know her more. She's only been here a couple of hours, but she's already got me wrapped around her itty bitty paw.

OMG I love that tort! she's really pretty! and she should definitely be a she! most torts and calico cats are female.

So, the man didn't get her either? good.

They will bond easily - cats are very good that way - older cats have trouble sometimes but kittens generally will accept another one without problem.

How about Sheba for the black one? and Sasha for the tort?

So cute!

I had a little grey hamster called Carmen, the little gray one looks like that!

As for the black one what about Jett, or something to do with dark colours?

Fran :) :hearts :brownbunny

Okay, Alexah! The first name that popped into my head for the black kitten is Talia! And for the tort kitten, Arwen, Willow or Tara. Hope this helps :biggrin2: The new kittehs are so cute, I hope to have a kitten some day. I'd imagine you can train kittens to leave bunnies alone better than adult cats? Congrats on your new little meows!

For some reason, the tort kitty makes me think of a kitty version of Tallulah... a sad, kinda scared kitty version. I keep coming back to look at the pictures of her!

Shiloh, my 11 cats were adults when Gingi first entered the household. They all figured out quite quickly that she was in charge. They were put off by her hopping and strange ways. And being all adults, they were past that kitten stage where everything has to be investigated, examined, and played with. Truthfully, I think adult cats might be much easier to introduce to buns...unless they are cats with aggression problems or ones that have been outdoor kitties allowed to hunt prey.

That said, Alexah, your new kittens are gorgeous. I look forward to stories about how they adjust and become a part of your family. Congratulations!

PS - Oh, and Peg, your name suggestion made me giggle. Good one!

I suggested Jett for her in the other thread LOL!

Jett and Jasmine would be cute!

Mocha*

(other, non-black names)

Chloe

Princess

Angel

Rose

Ivy

Petal(i like this one, first time I've thought of it too:cool:!)

Daisy

Lilac*

Lavender*

Violet*

Rosaline*

note: all names with a * after them are names of crystals, found pics of her!

i think Chloe would be cute for the little tort:cool:

The kittens will be heading to the vet at about 2:30pm today for their check ups, vaccinations, and fecal float. They both did well overnight and since I think the black one is the runt of the litter, the tort girl helped her along and they're both eating, drinking, and eliminating as they should. I'm breathing a major sigh of relief there. But I think I'll feel even better when they've been checked over.

I really have appreciated everyone's name suggestions. And after looking at those names along with the ones I've thought up I think I've come up with a pair of names that really suit the little girls and that I like too.

So here they are...

Oriana (Or-ree-an-na) and Emmeline (Em-ma-lean).

So, what'cha think?!

I'll take Kitty #2!!!

Here are some names I like:

Rain-Lilac kitten

Blackberry-Black kitten

Sweetheart-Lilac kitten

Molly-Black kitten

I used to have a tuxedo cat named Molly, I thought it was a girl but it turned out to be a boy. I was young (8) and I thought he was to pretty to be a boy. So I never changed his name, just gave him the nickname Momo.:biggrin2:

I think that my bunny Emmaline (Em-ma-line) would be thrilled to know a kitty who has a similar name! :biggrin2:

Me and my little kitkats got home from the vet just a little bit ago. And I can honestly say that it was the most pleasant vet trip I've ever experienced though I'm sure the kittens would disagree. I was quoted about $150 for the whole shabang but walked out after only paying $105. Not too many times I can walk out spending less that I thought! The didn't charge me for a second fecal float and gave me a discount on the office visits. Yeah, we'll definitely be going there again.

The kittens received a clean bill of health today. Okay, they do have ear mites, but everything else looks great. No URI and no fleas (whew!) and I won't get the result of the fecal until tomorrow, but they think that'll be clean too. If not it'll only be less than $20 to de-worm the little suckers. I'm relieved they're healthy and boy do they have tons of attitude. They ran around the office like they owned the place! And just a drop of meds in each ear in each kitten and we'll be all set.

My only problem is that they cry all night long in the crate. I can't move them to a different room (they're in my bedroom) and it drives me nuts since I can't sleep. But I guess there's not much I can do about it. All I can say is that they're lucky they're cute!

Emmeline and Orianna it is. The vet thought the names fit perfect and I've already started calling them by their name instead of black kitty and tortie kitty.

What did I get myself into?! Two kittens, four bunnies, a pair of gerbils, and dogs. I'm nuts - ship me off now.

:panic:<--- Me. 'Nuff said.

Alexah, which kitten is Emmeline and which is Orianna? Very pretty name choices! I'm trying to come up with a list of potential names for our new bunny, and it is LONG. I am apparently fond of super girly, sort of long names for bunnies. Orianna and Emmeline fit that bill! I don't have Emmeline on my list because of Bunnicula's Emmaline, but I do have Ariana as a potential. We shall see!

I'm glad to know that the little kittens are healthy! They sound so cute. I'm glad that little black kitty is pooping and everything too. You should take video of the kittens!

Mary Ellen, thanks for all the cat info! When I was posting that, I thought of you and all your kitties and was hoping you'd chime in. We might get a kitty some day, but I have two cockatiels who will hopefully be around for a lot longer and I wouldn't feel comfortable with a cat and birds at the same time. Would you say dogs or cats are safer to have around rabbits?

Emmeline is the little black kitten and Orianna is the little tort girl. I'm glad you like the names I chose. I think I made only about a zillion lists before deciding! I went for meaning as well as the sound of the name and these two just fit perfectly!

They're such cute girls and I'm really lucky to have them.

I worm our animals myself, quite easy. It's cheaper to buy the wormer and do it yourself, the vet basicly pays the same for the wormer only gets payed for putting it down the animals' thoat.

Have your tried covering them up? Towl/cover helps sometimes. Cats are active at night so unless you wanna sleep of the day and be awake of the night you better move them to another room or you move :p
