As many of you know, I did mention I do have breast cancer, and alot of you have PM'ed your well wishes, which I appreaciate. Some have also asked why I don't discuss or blog it. I do actually, I just don't do it here. I do it on my LiveJournal. The Jarred thing aside..I am not usually one for pity parties or sympathy, and I also don't like depressing people. Also adding in the factor, we do have some youngsters on here, who's parents may or may not want them exposed to what goes on in the course of treatments, they may have had close loved one pass from it, and want to shelter them from it. So, with that being said.. if you'd like to peek in from time to time on my blog.. I will give you the link to it.. otherwise.. I won't post the innermost workings and details here.

Now.. on to the pics..

The first day I went to set up everything.. labs and paperwork, I didn't sleep, and this weird fellow was in my bathroom talking to me.. all about his problems with his cousin getting a sweet gig on TV.. and he got the shaft...

LOL...

Seriously...Off we went.. Galveston is only an hour from me, but it takes 2 hours to get there, because you have to take a ferry over the harbor to get there.. which sometimes can take several hours..Our destination across the harbor.. it's the mass of buildings from the crane on the right of the pic as your looking at it.. and all the way to the middle of the pic.. that's UTMB-Galveston.. University of Texas Medical Branch.

So our ferry finally arrived...the Dewitt C. Greer....album link...

I do like the bird sitting on the back of the boat...lol

So from the roof of the hospital garage.. you can look out at the harbor.. or down at the original portion of the hospital, circa 1900..

We then went and visited the Lutheran Church.. circa 1850's..and 1906....and 1915

There's a giant statue in the middle of the main road.. I have no idea the story there, I just think it's beautiful..

We then went and visited a cemetary, which held alot of victims from the Hurricane of 1900, which wiped out the majority of the island.. this place is like 20 acres, and we just barely got into one acre.. I was just too tired...this was the third time I have been here, it's a very serene beautiful place. The first time, alot of the plywood you see was not there, and the *bodies* were visable, which shocked me. It wasn't due to vandalism, it was just the decay of time.

The Catholic church and Bishop's Palace as it's known is not only beautiful, but it's also a study in the ego of the clergy of the southern Catholic diocese.. really shameful, yet beautiful..

There is an initial album with 3 pic with both structures visible, if you click the link to the left, labeled church, it brings up that sub album, and when thats open, if you click a link to the left of that labeled palace, it brings up thepalace sub album

The Moody Mansion is the residence of the foremost and wealthiest devolping families of the island.. circa 1895. I think the iron scrollwork on the gates and porches are simply spectacular.

The seawall is interstate prolly about 20 miles long.. stunning view, which I should have gotten more pics of, but I was getting hot..I am sure I will have more opportunities..

Here is some 2 beautiful homes we found cutting through some side streets.. one we just thought the trees were gorgeous...and apparently my truck looked good in the shot too..lol. There's also a couple of shots of some iron fence posts.. I just thought they were beautiful..

The ferry ride home.. on the Ray Stoker Jr.. if you look through some of the last pics... a school of dolphins played around the ferry..

Uh, actually, not sure how many people DO know that. I didn't know. I never get a chance to read LYHD, I'm sure others are inthe same boat. (I was however realding your Borg Blog -- until it stopped being updated IN MAY!)

AndI'd like to think that it will not be a depressing blog at all, you'll sail through the treatments with your usual aplomb and that will be that. :)

And unless you're REALLY up close and personal with your oncologist and plan on giving blow-by-blows, pretty sure the kids here have heardwords like'breast' and 'nipple'. Betcha 4-H has a lot more x-rated material than that!

Cancer and other health issues areunavoidable. One can always choose not to read it, butI think a Blog like that will be educational and provide great insight. This day and age, there is no reason to think it can't be beaten.

I can see you not wanting to duplicate your efforts, though, but I'd still loveat least to see links and a note when your LiveJournal is updated.

:hug1
