Twice this past week, Gus has managed to sit in pee. I can't figure out where he's peeing that he'll sit in it, other than it's in his cage. Buthe's definitely sitting in it somewhere. Both mornings he's had sticky, yellowish-pink fur on his butt, tailand hind feet. :yuck

Igave him a butt bath to clean him up and then blow-dried him. He disapproved, of course. :rollseyes

But I just can't figure out howhe did it? The only thing I can think is he somehow managed to get some backsplash on himself when he was in his litter box. There's no pee anywhere else in his cage!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

At the bun shelter I work at I've heard a number of times of other sr. volunteers suggestion that one of the buns might have "wet butt"; as if this is some health issue. Do youknow if your bun has any teeth issues? A couple of buns there have teeth issues which causes them to drink ALOT Of water and they pee, obviously much more than the others and their hay boxes can get "standing" pee in them under their hay (which the naked can't see - only when you empty it and you see a river of pee come out).

Hopefully someone else comes by with more knowledge than I - hope all turns out ok.

No teeth issues I know of. He's only done it the two times so far, but I'll definitely keep an eye on him.

We changed his litter box after the second time and it didn't seem any soggier than usual. Of course, we use wood pellets, so they can absorb A LOT. (Which is also why I was so surprised he'd be wet!)

It's a mystery! ;)

Thanks!
