My mom's 50th is not too long away and I need some help.

We're renting a fairly large hall but I have no clue what goes on at a 50th birthday party

Anythign I should focus on ?

It's going to be semi-suprise

Ohm

Anyone know of a slow song, to dance to about a mother ?

My moms always said for her 50th she wants her, and her 3 kids to all dance with their partner to a slow song

SHe said she heard this song, by a girl, about her mother.. but I can't find it anywhere... help ? :S

A picture slide show would be awesome. You can scan in old pics and show it at the party. I've seen them at parties and people always stop and watch. You just set it up to play over and over.

Maybe you're thinking of Taylor Swift's song The Best Day?

I’m 5 years old It’s getting cold out
Got my big coat on
I hear your laugh And look up at smilin at you
I run and run
Past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides
Look now, the sky is gold
I hug your legs and fall asleep
On the way home

I don’t know why all the trees change in the fall oh oh
But I know you’re not scared of anything at all oh oh
Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today

I’m 13 now and don’t know how my friends could be so mean
I come home crying and you hold me tight
And grab the keys
And we drive and drive until we found a town far enough away
And we talk and window shop til I forgotten
All their names

I don’t know who I’m gonna talk to now at school uh uh
But I know I’m laughin in the car ride home with you uh uh
Don’t know how long it’s gonna take to feel okay but I know I had the best day
With you, today

I have an excellent father
His strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little brother
Inside and out he’s better than nothin

I grew up in a pretty house
And I had space to run
And I had .. the best days with you

There is a video I found
From back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen
And you’re talkin’ to me
It’s the age of princesses and pirate ships
And the seven dwarfs
My Daddy’s smart and you’re the prettiest lady in the whole wide world

Now I know why the all the trees change in the fall oh oh
I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
Staying back and watching me shine
And I didn’t know if you knew
So I’m takin’ this chance to say
I had the best day
With you, today

Your mom was born when rock and roll was popular and Elvis Presley was popular and she was a child when the Beatles and Rolling Stones and British groups became famous . She was also growing up during the time of the Vietnam war when the hippies became popular and there were a lot of protests against the war. She was a child when John F Kennedy was shot . I should knowI was alive then too :)

Woah woah, I thought you were in your 20's ?

Anyways

I want to make it a semi-formal kind of thing.

I picked Burgandy and Gold for the main colors.

I've also sent my cousin a facebook message to ask her mom (my moms sister) if she has any pictures I could borrow, and get blown up for my mom and display them.

Geez, these plans went out the window.

We're have 2-3 parties for her.
Mostly because my brothers are doorknobs and don't listen to me, so they get stuck having an extra party on their hands.
One on the 16th, at my brothers house inviting a few of her friends.
Then on her actual birthday, the 19th i'm making dinner here, at home, for just her and her and my brothers and their girlfriends.
Then on the 23rd we're all going out to Montanas, inviting a whole bunch of people.
Then after the dinner, I will play 'Best aunty in the whole world' and babysit my nephew while they go out dancing. :)

there's a country song...I can't think of the name...
Mama's Song, it's the new Carrie Underwood song that she sang during her holdiay special. Beautiful song.

I like the idea of the video with pictures.
