Hello all. I am PappaGiant. My wife refuses to let me in her bunny group on yahoo so I have decided to seek out my own. I am the proud "father" of two bunnies.

We rescued bean from a pet shop who was trying to sell her as a feeder rabbit for large pythons. Since then the pet shop has closed. Bean is extremely ill right now, with a large build of gas inside her stomach and a ear infection leading to a temperature of 105. We have her on six different medications and she seems to be improving.

Peanut we rescued after responding to a craigslist ad. She has been mualed by a dog and had a broken jaw. We have had her for over a month now. Besides a lingering respitory infection she is now fully recovered and playing/eating normally.

On a more personal note, I am a 27 year old recently married college student. I am extremely Tech savy and can assist with most tech related problems including but not limited to Web design, databases, photoshop, tech support physical and software related. I am also a published writer. I live with my wife, three cats and the two above bunnies. My animals ARE my children.

Thanks and I look foward to chatting with you all.

Welcome to the forum :)

Peanut is beautiful. I love her markings.

You sounds like a very good soul to take on these poor bunnies. When they are both better, do you intend to bond them. Maybe rescue more.....? :p

I look forward to seeing you around :)

Take care

Tracy

Welcome!!!!!!!!! so sorry your wife is being stingy with her yahoo board, lol, i laughed at that. Your buns are adorable. Hope you like it here. And we love pics so the more you post the happier it will make us. dont forget to go to the bunny blogs and start keeping a journal of your adventures and your experiences with your buns.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, after both Bean and Peanut are fully recovered we plan on keeping them. We awoke this morning and Bean hasn't improved at all, She is obviously dehydrated due to not drinking so we are going the pedialite/pineapple route along with a messy dose of critical care. She will eat greens and even had a few pellets. She is using the restroom sparingly and that is an improvement from not using the restroom at all. The only thing worrying us now is the temperature of 105.3 and the lack of drinking. We have her literally on ice to cool the temperature.

Send happy/healthy bunny vibes our way wouldja?

It's rough when a bun is so ill :( I TRULY hope they both improve and start to get better very soon.

Have you thought about writing about them in the infirmary? You might get some responses that might give you some ideas and you might get a gem of an idea you haven't yet tried or something.

Welcome to the RO family!!

I second that you should make a post in the infirmary about your bunnies. We have many wonderful infirmary mods who have lots of knowledge about ailments and how to get a bunny through a tough recovery.

You should post what caused the injury/illness (if known), what treatments have been done and also what treatments they are receiving at the moment.

Hopefully we can help you get both your buns back to complete health.
