When i had one of my hamsters when i was younger i used to use paper and tissue paper for his bedding.

could you do the same for rabbits?

I keep glossy, and colored paper away from my bunnies, as I don't think it's as easily digestible as black & white newspaper, plus I worry about the color dyes, and the chemicals in glossy paper.

I think some people use shredded paper.

I use newspaper to line my cages. My buns have a marvellous time shredding it and it makes changing easier and keeps the cage cleaner. I don't use it to line their runs (which are attached to their cages), but in the cages, where I do, I also pile hay on top, so it is just a base layer.
