So Ive been leaving an always full dish of pellets in zeros cage when im gone and I think she may be overfed? Also I lined her whole cage with hay and bedding at first I figured this wasnt a big deal but now I noticed she alwaus sleeps and lied around on the hayless top layer of her cage. Anyhow I suppose this is 2 questions.

Should I line her whole cage with bedding/hay or just her litter box?

How often should she be fed?

My Poe never has an empty bowl in his cage so I don't think that is over feeding at all. Bunnies eat slowly at little bits and pieces of their feed and oats, so it is reasonable to always have them full and available.

As with the lining - I am not sure on that one as I have never lined a cage with hay. Poe lives in a small apartment with me and has to be very clean and hay just goes everywhere! :p

Young bunnies need pellets readily available around the clock. Once the start hitting the 7 month of age, it's time to start cutting back so by 1 year old they have just the amount they need. This is due to overweight. You really have to watch once they hit that adulthood.

Regarding hay, I don't spread the hay all over. I put it in their litter box and they arrange it. If your bunny is finding a spot without hay, maybe just putting the hay in a hay rack on in the litter box would be a good idea.

Wishing you luck with your little Zero.

How much you feed at one time depends how much you are home. The ideal, I feel, is to give a handful of something & then see how long it takes to get eaten & then give something else, etc. But not everyone can do this. Just remember that food newly in the bowl looks more interesting than food that's already there.

I started just feeding her at night and a small amount during the morning, as always though she has a ton of hay. Shes now more happy and receptive when i come home.

As for her cage im going to try to just leave hay in the litter boxx and a smalller amount of bedding in her cage. idk...anyone have a picture of theirs?
