This is going to sound strange. But how do you guys clean your ovens? Like what kind of cleaner do you use?
My oven is a 1972 olive green Kenmore oven, I love it so much.
But it seems like I can never get it clean! I guess all the years of baked on crap, it just want to stay stuck in the oven.
Easy off doesn't work and it smells horrible. Is there something else that I could use thats maybe less chemical?
Or what do you guys use for the REALLY baked on crap?
Thanks!

I have a self cleaning oven, but online if you type in safe homemade oven cleaners quite a few different ideas come up, including those for people who are pregnant or have health problems.

There are also some oven cleaners that claim to be smell-free.
If you're having a hard time with getting it clean, I suggest you be sure to NOT use the "quick" method directions that say to warm up the oven and wipe off in 10 minutes or half hour (can't remember). Do it the long way where you spray it nice and thick and let it sit for hours.

I'd keep bunnies far away from the smell anyway though- even if it says it's smell free.

Thanks.
I got some homemade cleaner recipes that say to let it sit for several hours or over night. I'll put the bun somewhere else while I do it. I hate the way any cleaner smells and I know she probably does too.

You can always try putting a large roasting pan in the oven & fill with water & something acid like vinegar or lemon juice added, heat until the inside of the oven gets damp, then let it cool down somewhat & use something to scrape off the loose [hopefully] crud.

This probably is best to try in cooler weather, when adding humidity to the house is a good thing.

Thanks. There isn't a whole lot of loose stiff in there. Just stuff that's been baked on for the last 30 years. I would like to get it back to new. Haha probably won't happen but its worth a shot.

I was hoping the baked-on stuff would loosen up.

Tipnut.com seems to suggest using baking soda in the junk, so check out the specific suggestions.
