The last year our buns (a mini rex & a polish) have had to be in less than glamorous cages with small supervised outdoor time as we were in a rental and weren't suppose to have them. Now that we own our own home, I want to give them an outdoor space to call their own.

They absolutely LOVE being outside rolling in the grass, sleeping, and sadly on what was a perfect landscaped lawn when we moved in, has now been dug up, the start to tunneling. Which I really really don't want to happen.

My husband has suggested moving them onto our cobblestone but I still want them to be able to roll in the grass. Just want to curb their digging!

Any suggestions on how to manage this without having to sit next to them and stop them every single time?

They only way that you can really achieve it (that I can think of) is to have a run that you can put on the grass with a wire bottom (about 1 inch squares). That way the grass still comes through, they can eat it and lie on it, but not dig it up. It also give you the opportunity to move the run on about a weekly basis to a different patch of lawn so they're not completely destroying the one patch and the lawn has time to recover if you're rotating between 4-5 patches.

I don't know of any other way to prevent digging, it comes naturally and they seem to love doing it.
