We just neutered Snowball after getting litter of bunnies. He is outdoorrabbit who goes to outdoor hutch for a night only, so he used to be living in theyard. After the surgery they said he needed to be kept indoors for 10 days.

He feels sad indoors after the surgery andnot eating well. I can'timagine keepinghim out of his environment forsuch a long time. Heis really missing his friend Thumperina. They also said to keep them separetely for 7 days.

Do you think it would be OK to let him out fora little bit every day? We are having such a nice weather, and the poor guy is so desperate.

I know we shouldn't let him act crazy but they also said not to limit his activity a lot.

I wouldn't be taking him outside for at least a week, just to keep the surgery site cleaner mostly. He can play SOME inside, but they really do need to be limited much more.
Try giving him a big handful of his grass, or taking him outside in his indoor cage/a carrier with a bottom? That way he'd be able to get the sights and smells of outside without worrying about the surgery site.

If the surgery didn't involve anything other than the regular neutering process, usually a few days is all that's needed before they can run around. They shouldn't be doing any jumping up or down for a little longer or any mounting, but just being outdoors isn't a problem. Do they have a run that you could close off so she could be in it while he is in the hutch? Or you could leave her inside for one night while he is outside & then rotate them for a few days.

we have a fenced backyard, and part of the front+side yard is fenced too, this is how we separate them: one on the front, one on the back.
She has babies, so she needs to be close to them.

would anybody tell me please, when buck gets neutered, does it affect his desire to mate or his ability to breed? it's been 5 days but he is still crazy. Today he was inside by the open sliding door (with screen closed) and his girl came to sit on the deck. He was running around the house like crazy for at least an hour.

They say that a male's hormones aren't settled until about a month after their surgery. That's why boys can't be put with an unspayed female for a month after because their sperm is still viable and she could still become preggers. His "drive" will definitely decrease eventually.

Maybe he was just thrilled to see her... :D

This is miserable... a month??? our vet said a week...

anyway, I am extremely tired of keeping them separately:(((

Our vet told us 6 weeks for when Smores was neutered. It's not fun, that's for sure. However, if you have a run or a playpen that he could hang out in, I would think that's ok for a few hours until he is all healed up. The healing itself is a few days, it's the viable sperm that causes more issues so they will need to be kept separate. Trust me on this, my heart bunny got pregnant about 2.5 weeks after my male was neutered. She died a little while later from an infection in her uterus (pyometra) if that is the correct term and description. It's just not worth the risk, even if he's grumpy. My bun is also grumpy because I am not letting him out as much since he is spraying and making me sick. I am just waiting for his bits to drop properly but we sure don't enjoy the waiting game.
