Ok so it's 5am. I'm sound asleep and hubby is on his way out the door to go to work. I get woken to him shouting my name. I'm thinking uh oh what is wrong now. So I go running into the kitchen and there is my darling hubby holding an approximately 6 week old male (as far as I can tell) kitten. It appears someone dumped this adorable little silver tabby on our property. He was coming to get me to just hold it so he could get out of the driveway when it ran into the house. So I call shelter A. Sorry we're full. I call shelter B....sorry we're full. I call shelter's c and d. I give up no one will take this kitten. Lady at one of the no kill shelter's shares with me that they are sending animals to a kill shelter so that they can keep their no kill status. WOW!!! So I start calling vets. No one has any room for this darling little thing. But one vet tells me if I'm willing to keep the kitten he'll examine it for nothing and charge me 30.00 flat for the distemper, worming test and de-worming if needed. That is VERY cheap for our area. So we are now the proud owners of Nermal. I am supposed to be finding homes for animals so we can move and I end up taking in new ones. I think I have a tattoo on my forehead that says "Welcome".

Awwww I LOVE little kittens!! :inlove:

Yesss pictures are essential! ;) And go you for keeping him.

Silver tabby?!?! i love those, it's my dream to have one, my great grandmother's neighbors had a female that always had a new litter when ever we went up to see her and i loved playing with them. i was pretty close to her, she lived in state(hour/hour twenty)most of my life, then she was in SC for 2(ish)years before she died and i really miss her. i love things that remind me of her:)

I MUST SEE PICS! i bet he's a really cutie, andnaturestee is right, at least it's not a whole litter:cool::cool:

I will try and get pics up on the net asap. Unfortunately the camera is packed so will have to borrow hubby's. He's in very good shape for being abandoned so I'm thinking he was not out very long. He has the round kitty belly. No runny nose or eyes, no sneezing. He is VERY alert and playful. So far only bad habit is that he's got a messy litter box. He can't seem to resist throwing his litter out, but on the good side he uses it 100%.. He also seems to love the sound of my keyboard. The more I type the more he stares at me. Right now he's living in my rottie's old black wire cage. It's like a mansion to him. Small litter pan, water and food dish, flannel bed and lots of toys. Oh and hopefully this continues but he sleeps during the night. Although 14y/o has taken to sleeping in the living room now ROFL. "Just in case Nermal gets lonely".

I'm having one of those days as well, and I'm not a cat person!

I have a siamese mix and it's so funny because a very good friend of mine does as well. She took hers in from a neighbor just *days* after I brought Simon home from the pound.

We compared pictures and were stunned. Aside from the eyes (mine has none) our cats are IDENTICAL.

We live almost 200 miles apart.

I've put my foot down - NO more cats. Not a cat person.

A few days ago were were on YIM and she showed me a Craigs List posting for kittens. One blue eyed white, one odd eyed white. A few years back I said the only other cat I'd have would be an odd eyed or a blue eyed white.

Now, I had a blue eyed white for 16 years and had said I'd consider another but if anything, and only POSSIBLY, would I get an odd eyed white.

She was kind of interested in a kitten from the ad but didnt know if she'd want the blue eyed or the odd eyed. Hated to step on my toes and take the odd eyed since that was my preference but I told her if she wanted it I'd get it for her and pass up the blue eyed.

We agreed, I emailed the guy and he called me this evening. I told him that I'd meet him and take the odd eyed. His wife called later to say he was on his way and that she put both kittens in the carrier because she wasnt sure which I was taking "but dont feel obligated to take both."

Well -

CRAP! It looks like we'll be sharing another identical pair...

Well here is the latest ROFL. Talked to a local vet who has a deal that if you take in a stray he waves the first exam charge (34.95). So off we went today. Nermal is officially......A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He ways 1.2 lbs and is approximately 5 to 6 weeks old (vet says closer to 5 than 6). He has worms and he has ear mites but other than that he is 100% healthy. So Nermal is here to stay. I think I'm insane. But hey I can't turn him loose and forget finding him a good home (he's got one). Plus like my mom says once the kids name it you're doomed.
