Sir Petr is really sick. We are worried. We think he has GastroIntestinal Stasis??? He has not ate hardly anything at all for 48 hours and has not pooed. We gave him simethicone suspension liquid (Infants gas relief drops); and we have been trying to keep him hydrated with pediatric electrolyte. We also mixed some rabbit pellets, pediatric electrolyte and pro biotic powder together and am feeding him a little through a dropper. It is not like him to not eat. He has all his favorite foods available, and it is not like him to be lethargic. He is usually running around the house all the time. We are worried; does anyone have any ideas

He has not pooed, and you have been giving him gas drops with no improvement? I would suspect he has an intestinal blockage. Do not feed him any more, only syringe him water. Get him to a rabbit vet as soon as possible.

He only pooed 2 or 3 small soft pellets. We gave him gas drops for the second time an hour ago. Also, he did just pee on us; we are hoping that is a good sign. But, he is still just sitting in the corner.

Get him to a rabbit vet IMMEDIATELY!

12 hours without eating and pooping is considered an emergency. GI stasis is just a symptom of another health problem. Many things can cause it, from an upset stomach, gas pain, or it could be a dental problem causing the lack of appetite, bladder issues, kidney issues, etc. Anything that causes a rabbit to be in pain and discomfort can cause a rabbit to develop GI stasis. At this point you need a vet doing a dental exam and possibly other tests to figure out what might be going on. Your rabbit also needs to be on pain medication and any other appropriate medications. Your rabbit is likely very dehydrated and anorexic and needs immediate emergency intervention. PLEASE get your bun to the vet.

Rabbits need food to be constantly going through their system, or their GI system will shut down. Hardly eating and pooing for 24 hours is very dangerous and I would be rushing to a vet. 48 hours, I'm surprised he's still alive. 2 or 3 poos in that time is not really good enough.

How does his belly feel? If it feels bloated with air like a balloon, it could just be gas and the gas drops might help. If not, it'd be something more serious and I would definitely take him to the vet.

His bladder is not connected to his intestines so peeing doesn't indicate that he doesn't have a blockage.

We just lost our Thumper a week and a half ago and she was doing pretty much the same thing your rabbit is experiencing. I agree with the others. Get the rabbit to a rabbit savvy vet ASAP! The same thing happened to our rabbit over a weekend and we have no rabbit ER nearby. I sure hope a vet can help!
