If anyone in your family has an allergic reaction around your bun, it might be because of the Timothy hay. I hear Orchard grass is a great alternative to reduce allergens! However, I haven't noticed a change in my sneezy husband...

I heard the same thing, as I am allergic to timothy hay. As soon as my buns are done with their timothy hay I'm switching them to orchard.

Orchad hay instead of Timothy hay? I accidentally bought it! Is this ok for my soon to be 1 year old bunny?
--yes,most certainly-orchard grasses are great as some others are,--just note that timothy grasses have more non digestible fiber,-which is prefered for gi tract/gut flora--sincerely james waller:big wink:

Orchard hay is fine for your bunny. I use it as a treat but still include Timothy Hay. If nothing more for their teeth and digestion.

The nutritional content of orchard and timothy grasses is very similar so nutritionally the two are basically interchangeable. Some buns prefer the taste of orchard and in my opinion it's best to offer a variety of grass hays.

I give both orchard and timothy on a regular basis because it gives them more veriety and I think they eat more that way. I use oat, brome, bermuda, and alfalfa as treats. Since they are all adults they only get alfalfa very rarely.
