So my rabbit peed on my carpet today and I cleaned the spot with a cleaning product Carbona. A hour or so later I was laying on my bed with him then he jumped off and started licking the spot where I scrubbed the cleaner. It was only for like 5 seconds and then I freaked out and he ran under the bed.

Could that be harmful?! I am freaking out help please. I'm scared, I don't want him to get ill from that!!!

---carbona.??-product doesnot ring a bell --however read the label and follow the instructions,,-water and grasses come to mind--until you know different treat this accident as a poisoning,,---error on the side of safety,,--our house rabbit is over 7 yr old and has been into all kinds of mischief, the latest was setting the house on fire,--please let us know what happens--sincerely james waller--if it helps i will research this product,..

it's an "oxy-powered" carpet cleaner? (that's what came up when I googled it, anyway)

it says "Is your product safe to use around children and pets?

Yes, however, you should always try to keep children and pets away from treated area until dry."

my guess is it was mostly dry by the time he got around to licking it... and even if it was a bit damp, a tiny amount of that type of cleaner shouldn't cause any harm.

I found a full list of ingredients for it here - http://www.carbona.com/productingredients/Carbona 2 in 1 Oxy-powered Carpet Cleaner.pdf - if that can help anyone to confirm my feelings that it won't harm him.

It was damp. I'm hoping it wont do any harm. He just got over from being sick. It would be a nightmare for the both of us. I'm going to be worrying a lot now. Thanks for the quick response.

I know there are different carbona stain remover types and they contain different ingredients. I know some have ethanol, some have propane...i do believe these are toxic to rabbits but hopefully someone can come along and answer this. I dont know if your bun wouldve gotten enough to harm him just by licking the carpet

I'm sure you stopped him before he ate much, but you probably should use vinegar on future spots.

:yeahthat: Or at least rinse it out well afterward.

In the future, if you suspect your pet has been poisoned, I recommend the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center hotline.
(888) 426-4435
http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/

They do charge a $65 consultation fee, however.

Well I am also having American White rabbit ,he generally do peed on my carpets even as you know the chemicals we use are really unhealthy for these pets. For temporary basis we can use vinegar but we must clean our carpets from carpet cleaning companies because they use Green carpet cleaning methods which are non toxic as well as chemical free that wont harm the health of our rabbits.
