Hello everyone!

I have a seven year old American Fuzzy Lop named Logan. I have had him since he was about a year old.

As he has started to age, I have noticed that he breathes heavily. Especially when I hold him, or move him when he's being held. I have noticed that his breathing progressively becomes heavier as he ages. Despite his breathing, he is very active. When I simply walk past his cage, he runs in circles anticipating the moment when I will pet him. He's super affectionate and happy. I am just concerned about his breathing. I have never had a bunny this old. Is this normal as they approach this age?

Thank You!

If you're worried, I'd talk to a vet. We have a young one and one that is the same age as yours that pretty much exhibit the same behavior but are fine, still eating and running around like crazy bunnies--hasn't been a problem so far.

7 isn't terribly old but is definitely old enough to make sure he's getting regular check-ups at the vet. Every year for young bunnies, every 6 mo for older ones. It may be that he's due for a check up and it would be good to have the vets take a listen to his lungs.
