I just bought a "new" bag of Purina rabbitchow today and the mill date says March 2010...is it still good to give to my rabbits :?I forgot to check the mill date before I purchased it :foreheadsmack:It appears to still smell good and fresh...what do ya'll think? I know someone on here told me not to get feed that is over a month old? Also, a large air-tight feed container that holds up to 25 lbs (it's pretty nifty)! how long will the feed stay fresh in there and still be safe to give to my rabbits?

Someone may correct me here, but in general feed is good for six months? If you freeze it then it can last longer. I go through feed so fast that I don't worry about it too much!

Well I doubt my roomies would like me putting rabbit feed in our tiny freezer...so that's not going to happen for the time being! ;)

The general rule among breeders is not to use feed that is older than 3 months. People have lost whole herds feeding old feed.
I am just going to take the feed back to the store...better to be safe than sorry! it's almost June anyway!
