The other evening I was sitting on the floor with the laptop in my laps and penny was hoping about and giving everything a sniff. For a second I couldn't see her anywhere then I looked past my laptop screen and there she was! Lying on her side... with her bunny knee almost touching her ear, licking her privates! I'd never seen her or any other bunny do this before. I was shocked! I'm a first time bunny owner so please excuse these questions if they sound super silly!

1. Is it "normal" for bunnies to do this? I'm worried her privates may be irritated? Or that I may need to take her to the vet? (Similar to how you may take a baby to doctor when they have a serious diaper rash)

2. Is this behavior to be expected from male, female, or all bunnies? (I'm pretty sure she's a girl)

3. Since she was in front of me/close to me (by my feet) is it fair to say she feels very comfortable and trusts me?

Also if anyone has information or any general comments about this I'd love to hear them :)

haha my boys sometimes do that, i think its when they are eating their cecals (soft sqishy poos)

i'd suggest trancing her and checking out her bits. if they look red and raw maybe it would be a good idea calling the vet?

Usually they do this while eating their cecals - totally normal and I see my rabbits do it at least once a day. I wouldn't take her to the vet unless she's doing it constantly and excessively.
