Now I might be crazy here, and this is why I have to ask.
Poppy, my Tri mini rex doe, had 7 kits, back Sept 30th. Lana, a gray dutch doe had 2, but massacured 1 of them. She had a ton of milk, more than Poppy did. Poppy has always taken good care of her kits, but I still took one baby away(The least likely to be showable) and put it in with Lana.
Lana had 2 babies in her last litter, one was fostered and the one left with her either had splay legs or (I think) she had broken his leg with her weight- she had all her mom's milk. So in order to test for the splay legs i fostered the one mini rex baby into the litter to take some of the milk load off the one baby.
Poppy still lost another one due to a cold snap, it had crawled too far from the others- she insistly only uses fur, she won't put hay/straw in her box, shavings in the bottom and fur-she's crazy.
The one mini rex baby in with Lana (broken Chin doe) is bigger than it's silblings that are with the right mommy.
Lana's first buck, Vamp, was Colby and a chocolate doe's off spring. Colby was the sire of the second litter. Colby's litters with other does have never had Splay leg show up before. No sign of splay with this Colby/Lana baby either. Coarse he's not as fat as teh baby from the first litter.
So the question is, could the last baby of broken it's leg(s) with the weight of being able to eat/drink whatever it wanted, or could it still be splay legs on the one(last litter) and could that(Weight thing)be why Lana's baby in this new litter is fine?
And picture for good humor of the trio, Lana's Son, Lana and Mini Rex baby. Colby in the background
