Okay, so I took the cats to the vet today for acheck-up. Routine stuff, still monitering Scully's murmur (whichnow we're thinking is a bacterial infection and curable! :D) Butanyway...

They weighed the girls (the kittens will be six months old on Friday).Miko is about 6 1/2 pounds and Stephanie is just over 5 pounds. Want toknow how much their brother weighs?

9 pounds  He's bigger than his mommy!! Apparently he'sdrop-dead gorgeous to boot, my mom saw a photo

But...wow. You think his daddy was big? ;)

I suspect the kittens had different fathersanyway. Stephanie looks nothing like the other kittens and has alwaysbeen smaller than them, so I think she was an egg that got fertilizedlater and is just the "runt". Miko is nearly as big as her mom, thoughlighter, and the boys are absolutely huuuge!

I believe Anderson (the other boy) is about as big as PJ (the9-pounder), though I'd have to doublecheck with his "parents". Butsince their mom was so small, I think it's likely their dad was a justbig ole' Tom. It will be interesting to see how large they ultimatelyturn out to be...

Kinda regret them being adopted now, I adore big kitties :p

My cat bengal had kittens last year, some of themwere fluffy, some were short haired. She's a grey cat and someof thekittens were orange while others were black. I think this proves thatthey can have more than one father ina litter. We'd seen ablack and white tom cat hangin round and an orange one. Seems they'reboth fathers of this litter. Males lol (no offence to males on thissite!)

Oh yeah, and color genetics is another thing!Scully (mom) is an full orange tabby. 90% of orange tabbies are male,so having a female orange tabby is unique. Her kittens were: an orangetabby male, a "buff tabby" male (basically cream, with darker orangestripes), a "patched tabby" female (grey with orange patches), and atortoiseshell female (black, white, brown, grey and orange).

Obviously her orange genes got passed on nicely :p.

To have a tortoiseshell, the dad must be black and the mom needs toeither be orange or carry the orange gene. The boys most likely gottheir patterning and color from mom, it would be hard to guess at theirfather. But a black cat most likely wouldn't have fathered a patchedtabby kitten, with light grey fur and large areas of white. So I guessthis further proves lil' Steph had a different dad.

Poor thing...think I should break it to her that she and Miko aren't really sisters? :p

Yeah, they definately do! :D
