My husband got a ferret awhile back for hisbday, had thought they were always neat...well lil did I know he hadn'tdone any reasearch and shes way more than he can handle...think hethought they'd be a nice snuggle pet like the bunnies...thatonceshe played for a bit, would settle down etc...Well thatsnot the case, hes frustrated and today she escaped her cage came allthey way upstairs and was terrorizing Oreo. She then leftthat room, at the time I didn't know what was wrong with Oreo...Icaught movement out of the corner of my eye and she went into ourbedroom and was laying between the dressers, I reached down to get hershe didnt seem scared, I didnt chase her or antyhing...she turnedaround and nailed me pretty good...I've got a nasty puncture on mythumb....My husband is beyond furious and says he won't deal with itbiting anyone of us. Thankfully it wasn't my son she got.

We would like to find her a new home...She's only 3-4 months...I thinkif someone would have some patience and take the time with her she'd befine. I persoanlly don't like ferrets and didn't want one tobegin with...but he indulges my bunny fettish, so what could I reallysay! He bit off more than he could chew with this one I think as he'snot the most patient person in the world...or wait, in this case, theferret bit it off... :( :( She deserves a better chance withsomeone with more patience!

If anyone knows of anyone in my area that would be intersted...let meknow!! I can provide a small cage for her til someone could getsomething better, but the one she's in I'm going to keep for bunnyfostering. Thanks.

Ooh that hurt! I don't know anyone sorry.:? I'm not much help. :D

Thankfully I was smart enuff to not jerk mythumb back or I'd prolly need stitches!! He was at work already or he'dhave been getting her. As it is, if she happens to escapeagain, he'll be called to come get her. I had lil to do withher before, I'll have nothing to do with her now!

Here's a ferret shelter in Iowa that accepts surrenders:

I personally would rather go with a shelter or rescue, just so that youcan ensure this lil' girl gets the right home. Their as smart andsociable as kittens, they really do need the right environment.

Good Luck!

I also had ferrets! And we also had to sell them! The got out one day and killed one of mydoves :disgust:I was SO mad, and I couldnt trust them beingout any more, so I figured a home without any other pets was best forthem!

I would take him, if I were in yourarea. They really are great little pets if you are patientenough to handle them, and it does take lots of patience. Iknow a lot of people whojust adore them and I can countmyself in that group. Some are more laid back thenothers. I have one who is a therapy ferret. He'swonderful with people.

I belong to a ferret forum, if you'd like, I could post about youneeding to find a home for the little guy on there to see if there isanyone in your area.
