I know many of the forum members use ebay, so I wanted to remind members to beware of recent email scams . . .

I received this email (text below) this morning. It has beenconfirmed by Ebay to be a phishing scam to elicit personal informationfor illegal use. Please beware and contact Ebay if youreceive any suspicious emails!

(also note the spelling errors in this "official" email)

Yes, it was really well done in terms of looking like information from E-Bay. Isn't it something, though, with all that effort, they still had spelling errors! LOL That is one of the first things that caught and focused my attention to check it out more fully.

I know some here were and are amused at my desire to write and spell as intelligently as I can in the forum, but it isone halmark of being civilized.I never cease to be amazed that trolls, and in this case, common fraudulent criminals, would make such a major and complex effort at a scam like this without using spellcheck.:ponder:

Anyway, thank you for the heads-up, Mrs.Nock!

Thanks for posting that one. I to received thatone and one from Pay Pal stating virtually the same thing. I thoughtthem both to be odd since I have never used either! Thus, I clicked onthe site, only to have a blank screen.

O/T but related.... today my credit union called me to ask me about myVisa debit card. They asked me if I had attempted to charge $100.00 tomy card at a local chain called Einstein Bagels! Obviously, I hadnot... I like bagels, but....

Whoever it was had the clerk (or maybe it was the clerk?) manuallyinput the numbers. Fortunately for me, the expiration date inputted waswrong. I was also amazed at how quickly my credit union responded!!

I'd love to know where this person got my info!

:disgust:

My father got a similar message this past weekend from Bank One -either the "phisher' is the same one, or none of them apparently canspell!!:nonono:

I got one like this last year and I didn't knowbetter. My identity was stolen, all my personal info (SS#, address, birthdate, etc.), and they tried purchasing things online. The FBI cameby to talk to me, as it was international...they tracked it to Russia.

Scary, scary stuff.
