Hi I'm new here. So I'm going to be buying a bunny for my son soon. Ok, not so much for my son because buying animals for children to take care of is not the best idea. But more like showing my son responsibility and teaching him about rabbits as I was when I was his age.
But times have changed and its been a long time since I have had a bun bun. So here I am to talk to people up to date and see what kind of food is out there and what is best for our soon to be new addition. I haven't went looking for a bun and I'm not sure what breed would be best for him. My mom said a dutch would be great or a flemish giant. The whole giant part would be good if there was enough room. lol
I've gotten so used to my chinchilla that I almost forgot that rabbits eat veggies. lol :biggrin2:
SO here I am... HI!!

Glad you can join us. Have you thought of adopting instead of buying? There are many rabbits in shelters and rescues that need a forever home. If you decide to go the rescue route check to see if there are any adoption events in your area. Many will bring certain rabbits to events if there is a request. You will know which rabbit is best for you and your son.

Hay is the most important food for rabbits and as well veggies. Check the forum to see what veggies are good for rabbits.

Anyway welcome to the forum.

hi my name is becca and i'm not far from you----i'm in allentown pa. there's actually a lot of buns for adoption on petfinders but i actually found TONS of buns on craigslist too---free and cage included. be sure to post pics when you get your bun!!!!! =)

:welcome1and good luck in finding a bunny. You found a great site for learning about bunnies, make sure you check out the rabbit 101 info in the library section.

Adoption is a great way to go. I volunteer for the Indiana House Rabbit Society and some of the stories behind the buns we have up for adoption would break your heart. There was a very sweet dutch mix that was found in a park, a bonded pair were found outside a house in a hutchleft there after the family moved.

Sorry didn't mean to get on a soap box.

I am looking to adopt or buy. Just want the bun to be ok with my son is all. I do look at craigslist often and haven't really seen any buns. I could have over looked that though. I am always looking to find people giving away their chinchillas. lol
I will be on the look out now! lol
Thanks everyone!

if you are willing to travel you could look at the lehigh valley cl and the Philadelphia cl. Phila cl always has people trying to rehome thier buns.
