Hi everyone. My name is Gail. I have had New Zealand and Mini Rex rabbits in the past. We picked up a bunny today that was being rehomed. The wife was pregnant, they didn't have time for the bunny, etc... Usual sad story. :(

Anyway, could I get some help IDing the breed of this rabbit? I'm thinking maybe an English spot?

Right now, his name is Jack. We haven't decided whether to keep that. :) He's 5 months old and probably 8-10 pounds.

Looks like a full size Rex mix. All ours are rescues so all we really care about is that they are healthy. Would be nice to know their real age. Our oldest, Molly, is close to if not 14.

He does have the soft, velvet-like fur like the Mini Rex rabbits. I didn't even think of that possibility since all of mine were tiny ones. :) He is a very happy, healthy rabbit. The previous owners took great care of him - litter box trained him and all. I just feel for him that he had to be rehomed. I have two little boys who will spoil him rotten...that is if my husband can ever put him down. He loves the way his fur feels. :)

Hi and welcome to RO! He's a very attractive bun. We hope to see more pics and hear more about him as you get to know him.:happybunny:

Thank you! I'll definitely share more. I haven't had a bunny since before my children were born, and my oldest is 12 so it's been 15 years or so! I grew up around them though, and I even raised a kit from a few days old until it could eat on its own. I loved that bunny. I need a refresher on being a bunny momma though. :D Like everything else in the world, I'm sure things have changed.

gailatmsu...Things probably have changed, I know in my case it did. Last time I had a bun my kids were young and the internet was in it's infancy so know learning all the right ways on how to spoil a bun!

Welcome Gail!!! Your bun Jack is a cutie, are you keeping the name? Keep looking around here and never hesitate to ask questions..

I had a bunny that passed away this past August at 13 to 14 years of age... I was young when I got him (I got him when he was 2 and I'm 25 now, he died when I was 24) so I never really researched and I could've given him a much better life had I known. Now I have two buns, a lionhead and a holland lop, and they're spoiled beyond belief. And I come here to share my stories about them, but mostly to be able to ask advice and learn new things. :)

Anyways, welcome again!!!
