I got an 8 week old bunny the first of August, and gave him some rabbit food from Walmart. He still had not touched it by the next day so I bought him oxbow bunny basics young rabbit food (alfalfa based) he has been eating tons of alfalfa hay, and the fresh vegetables I give him, and growing a lot the past few weeks. He is very active and seems very healthy. But he still has not had any interest in eating pellets. Is this okay? I'm concerned he's not getting enough nutrition without any pellets in his diet.

First off rabbits under 6 months of age should NEVER have veggies you can ruin the digestive system and it might not effect them now but it can effect them later on in life. Right now they should only have pellets, unlimited hay, and lots of fresh water. You should try to invest in getting a high quality pellet. I don't believe in constantly switching a rabbits diet so my rabbits stay on the same pellet from when they are young juniors until they are old seniors. I feed kent top show professional, you can also feed manno pro, Purina ect. However I'm not saying Oxbow is a bad food thats just my personal opinion. Try to sprinkle some rolled oats on the food to encourage him to eat, just mix it in with the pellets. Stop feeding the veggies though its not a good idea to give them veggies at such a young age.

It's always a good idea to get pellets from whoever you got him from so you can use it to transition him to whatever you want to give him. Can you still get some? At his age, he really needs pellets to get the proper nutrition as he grows.

My guess on this one is that wherever you got him from may have been feeding a pellet mix with all the extra bits in it. Those are bad for bunnies, but they love eating them so if that was what he was being fed, it's likely he may have just been picking out the bits and ignoring the pellets. I would continue to give him some fresh pellets on a daily basis, maybe cut back on the veggies a touch, he may eventually start eating the pellets. If you haven't given him fresh ones he may not be inclined to eat the old ones. Also perhaps try hand feeding him a few, that might help him get the taste for them too :)
