Hello Bunny Lovers!
So glad I found this forum because I love my bunnies too! I have a female bunny who chews like crazy and always has. About 3 months ago, I adopted an adorable, sweet, neutered Dutch male, he is about a year old and he doesn't chew on anything. Well, he has chewed a little on cardboard and his bunching towel, but not the apple wood rings, sides of wood hutch, toys, or anything else. They are not housed together. Should I be worried? I thought rabbits had to chew to keep their teeth from growing to long? His teeth look fine and do not seem to be hurting at all. I have given him lots of chew toy options but he throws them in the water LOL and has nothing to do with them. Thanks Tanya
PS: He eats with no problem: Timothy Hay, Pellets, clover.. etc..

Eating his hay should be enough to keep his teeth ground down. I say should because your average rabbit usually has no problems. However some rabbits' teeth seem grow rapidly and hay isnt enough to keep up with them. If he has regular vet visits the teeth are something the vet will look at. My french lop was a pretty good chewer but usually once a year he would have to have spurs removed off of his back molars. My other two have no problems at all. Just depends on him.

My first bunny didn't start chewing his hutch for like 2 months. Some rabbits are crazy chewers, but some are not. I wouldn't be worried.

Ours love cardboard boxes. Built them a Castle last week and it already has a new door--4 boxes had to get chewed thru. They also love the brown grocery bags. Hay is usually enough but it doesn't hurt to look at the teeth every now and then and also monitor the eating for any change in habit.

Thank you all so much for the replies! I feel so much better. I didn't realize the hay would be enough to keep his teeth from getting too long, I am going to build mine a cardboard house too! He would love it!!
