I didn't realise so many veggies were part of the nightshade family. Those 'safe' veggies that are part of this family include tomatos, red/yellow/green peppers, amongst probably others.
I heard that potatoes are a no no for rabbits because they are part of the nightshade family, but so are tomatoes?? We can apparently feed the flesh of the tomato, but not the greens because these are the toxic bits. Is this, in fact, the case with peppers too? I luckily have never given mine the green stalk of the pepper just purely because I "wasn't sure" but is this safe to give? Or does it come under the category of 'toxic greens' as it does with tomatoes?
If that is the case, then does that mean rabbits can have the potato flesh? But not the greens? Or is the actual potato still "part" of the plant, because it is not the fruit? It's just the tuber under the ground, rather it blossoms a flower and then a fruit that looks remarkably like a green tomato!!
Thanks for clearing this up
