So, I'm building an NIC cage, but I really would like my bunnies to have a little more space. should i just like build a little pen attached to the NIC cage, but off to the side? Has anyone done this and have pics of it? Also, if anyone has pics of their nIC condos that can hold 2 rabbits w/ divider that would be awesome to see pics!

whitelop and I replied to your other post, and I'll just add this. Imbrium created a pen for her girls with an x-pen exactly the way you want.

This is her setup:

condo was unfinished at that point and has been through multiple renovations, hehe... it's practically a bunny mansion now. as I said in the other thread, if I have to separate them at some point, all I'll have to do is split the pens in two so that they each get their own section of the condo and they have separate run areas.

(the brown packing paper's in there 'cause they seem to LOVE playing in it, lol. can't beat free toys!)

. I have since made a few changes to it. (This is the cage that is at my parents house.)

This is the cage at my apt.

. Again it has gone through many revisions.

I really like the divider in your cage Lauren. Did you just attach it with zip ties

Bear in mind that if you have 2 un-bonded buns and use the above method of dividing it, the bunnies will still be able to inflict harm on each other through the divider. If this is the case, you're better off either have 2 separate NIC cages that are place a couple inches apart, or using a double divider that has a gap of 2" between.

I have never had a problem with keeping unbonded rabbits like this. Most rabbitries use all wire cages that have a single piece of 1"x2" wire between each rabbit. The rabbits never get injured through the devidor even though they have contact with the other rabbits. It is not feasable for people who have many rabbits to have a 2" space between cages. Here is an example of the types of cages most rabbits are housed in.

My rabbits are actually simi bonded.

I have the devidor attached with dog leash clips right now. I had it attached with zip ties but decided to take it down one day and then I put it back up. If you are really worried about the rabbits getting at each other through the devidor, then you could get some cheep plastic cutting boards or sheet mettal, punch holes in it and attach it. I tried that when I had my rabbitry because of the spraying and having white show rabbits. I only used that for less than 6 months before I took it down and never went back to the simi solid devidor.

If 2 rabbits are intent on doing each other harm, they can easily do so through the NIC size openings. Of course if they are ok with each other, then it wouldn't be a problem. NIC openings are plenty large enough to inflict both scratch & bite wounds. (I've seen it)

Yes, but since these two are sisters, I don't think they will be too bad. Lauren: thanks for info on the divider! I got the basic layout of my cage done today, but i ran our of the right kind of NIC grids :X the stupid boxes come with grids that are HUGE and regular grids, but i really only want regular grids!
