Newspaper

Can I use shredded newspaper as bedding? I usually go to the store to buy the paper bedding they have but it would be cheaper if I could use newspaper.

I personally would worry about the ink coming off onto the rabbit. Just my opinion.

I'd worry about the ink too. But you can always call the newspaper and see if they use vegetable ink, which is now required by most newspapers due to the ink problems in the past.

I think Lake had a really good idea regarding using paper. Brown paper, which is not dyed white or has ink on it. You can get a big roll cheap.

They have used a soy base ink for a long time. Our rabbits have had newspaper for more than 9 years now.

I've always assumed that the soy ink is basically soy charcoal. Maybe that's a good thing; charcoal is used for digestive problems.
