Hey everyone, Ive got an awesome non-neutered dude named Billiam that we rescued about 4 years ago. Hes always been a happy bun, and we try to keep it that way. Lately Ive been noticing though when Ive been giving him attention he will attempt to put his forepaws around my arm and when I gently lifted him up he was sure excited.

Hes never had issues with marking, never had a bite in his life (and Ive got a 2yo that learned how to be gentle with animals with Bill), and this is the first time Ive noticed unwanted behaviour out of him.

Is there anything I can do to quiet this urge for him without neutering him? He has withstood my rebuffs well, and as long as its just once in a while like its been now I see no reason to neuter for this, unless it gets worse.

Thanks for your help everyone!

A non-neutered male will always be sexually frustrated to some degree if he's not able to mate, and it looks like Billiam's turning to your hand out of desperation. If you really don't want to neuter him, consider giving him a washable, similarly-sized soft toy that he can hump whenever he wants to. You'll want to wash it every so often though!

A soft toy is a good alternative, some rabbits take to them and some don't. If you do give him one, make sure it's not the beanie kind and doesn't have plastic eyes or nose that can be chewed off and ingested.

The stuffed animal sounds like the solution then. My wife jokes about getting him a "girlfriend" but I don't think thats in the cards for him but Id prefer to at least let him have his dignity. Looks like my wife's slipper caught his eye though, glad hes started to redirect, it was getting a little awkward.
