So my bunnies just had kits (not planned) and they live in a NIC cage. When the kits were born they were on the floor and two were out of the cage cage completely. I moved them into a nest box and they are doing well now. They are gaining nicely and staying in the box. My question is that I expect within a week they will be ready to come out of the nest box. They will be 12 days old in a week. So my question is that by then, will they be big enough that they will stay contained in the cage? The cubes are all 1 in by 1 in gaps. Nothing larger. Or should I make it more secure?

If they can't get out of the gaps, they may still be able to get their heads stuck depending on how big they are. To prevent this you could attach a layer of something either inside or outside the cage and just cable tie it. Whether it's coroplast, or cardboard, cut a strip long enough for the width of your cage and maybe 4 squares in height and attach it. Then they can't poke their little heads through!
