When I went to check on my newborn kits (30-36 hours old) and they are warm and appear healthy. However, as I picked them up they all started jumping and squeaking with their mouths open. Is this normal or is it a sign that momma isn't feeding them? I have photos if that helps, but it doesn't appear that I can load them from my phone. I can email them. Thanks so much!! It's my first litter on my own so any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds normal. Kits are normally very jumpy and squeaky when we handle them. They don't know you and they get better as you handle them more. This is why it's good to be very careful. Kits that are not being fed are more quiet and have wrinkly skin/small bellies

very normal. just looking for a quick feed. You woke them up and they are programed to know.. sleep until momma wakes you. Eat and then sleep again.
HOLD THEM securely at this age.
