Hi everyone! I just found this forum and cant wait to check everything out. My name is Amber and I have had rabbits for almost 20 years now (wow, it doesn't seem that long). I am currently sharing my home with Mr. Melody my mini rex mix.
I started my bunny love with a silver martin named Sunflower when I was 11. Ceri was my baby though. I rescued her from a pet shop in Cincinnati, Ohio 7 short months after my son was born. At 4 months old she was already bigger than most of the other rabbits in the shop. And the only one that was still there. She has since moved on to the big bunny meadow. Melody came from a co worker who bred two of her rabbits. He is a silly little man of 8 now and an absolute delight. He loves the kids and other animals, though I know he misses his girl.
I have rescued and will soon be fostering rabbits. There is nothing better than to get bunny nudges and witness happy hops. Rabbits have been in my life so long that I cant imagine life without them.

Welcome to RO!

Would love see your silly little man. I'm fortunate to have a few of them myself.

Look forward to discussing rabbits and also hear about your experiences in fostering. Really interested myself.

I will be getting my first foster this week. After being approached by a friend about it and much discussion, we decided it would be good to have a foster. I am really excited about being able to help out more than just my bunnies.
Melody is a mini rex/mini lop mix with one floppy ear. He is always causing me to laugh with his silly antics. He is supper sweet and though he doesn't like cuddled he does love head rubs.

Welcome! Its always nice to have someone new share their love for rabbits as pets and then turning around and fostering those who weren't so lucky in finding a forever home. Looking forward to pictures! :)

Welcome! This is a super site, and I am excited to learn lots from your years of bunny experience!

Welcome! I got my first bun when I was about your age too! After Licorice went to the Rainbow Bridge, I went 20 years without a bunny and now have Agnes my lionhead and first bun since I've been an adult. It brought back so many memories of Licorice and Agnes has brought such joy to my life I find myself wondering how I went so long without a bun :) so i get what you are saying about not living without one.

Can't wait to hear more about your buns!

It really doesnt seem like its been 17 years since I found my first bun. And I do mean found. We were camping on the fair grounds one weekend and they happened to have a rabbit show going on. I took a bike ride and found this lady parked kind of away from some of the others and she was sitting on the tailgate of her truck holding this tiny baby silver martin. Boy, did get into trouble for disapearing. But I just couldnt bring my self to leave the rabbit alone. I sat there for what felt like hours holding her and talking to the woman. When my parents found me the lady suggested i take the bun for the night. My dad reluctantly agreed and we were given what we would need for the night and I carried her back to our camper. We put her in a dish tub and and watched out for her the rest of the evening. In the morning we took her back to the lady and while I played with her flemmish, my dad talked to the woman and asked how much she wanted for the silver martin. She ended up seeing how much we loved her already and just gave her to us. My parents and I have had rabbits since.

Thanks so much for sharing your story about your first bunny experience. I think if you have a great experience with a bunny, you are never without one the rest of your life. I don't know what I do without bunnies now that I've experienced this awesome critter.

Hope the little guy is doing well. Also good luck with fostering. Hope it all works out for you and no stress on your own buns.

K:)
