Hey, guys!
I'm new to the forum (just joined today), and I'm looking into getting a rabbit. I've been researching different pets for about two years now, and rabbits alone for one year... but I still have some questions.
I really just want to make sure that I know everything there is to know before bringing my new friend home. :brownbunny:hearts:

1) I've read that litter training is usually extremely easy... is this true?
2) What's the average cost of a spay/neuter? (I'd probably adopt, but just curious.)
3) I've heard that corn is bad for rabbits. Why?
4) How large of a space is average for a rabbit? (How much space do they need?)

I'll probably have more later, but for now, these are the main ones that I can think of.
Thanks!
Rae.

ETA: Oh, yeah! I was also wondering if lop-eared rabbits required more upkeep than regular-eared rabbits, due to the floppy ears?

1) It is for most rabbits. :) They usually pick a corner they like to go in.
2) Depends on where you live. We'll have to check with our Oklahoma members
3) Corn is bad because of their digestive systems...seeds of any kind aren't good. More info can be found in our libraries and in the nutrition area.
4) They need to be able to telescope up and stretch out. Lots of running around and binkying is important as well. We have many house rabbits on the site that are out all the time. :)

Welcome, Rae!!! Hope to see you with a bunny soon!

(not sure on the lop ear question...I've only had uppy ear bunnies)

Hello  Welcome to RO.

1. My bunnies were easy. Gotta be patient.

2. I paid approx $200- I live in Ohio

3. IDK??

4. Thebigger, the better. I use NIC cages so my bunnies can have a large area. And you can build up.

* Have you thought about a friend for your bunny? or thought about adopting a pair? I would have an emergency fund for your bunny. Medical treatment is expensive. I always pay atleast a $100+ when I go to the vet. (for abunny not eating or something. Thats with medicine).

Just do all the reading you can and ask all the questions you can. :)

Hello and welcome to RO!! I'm sure you'll love it here; there's such nice, friendly people who can answer your questions and talk about bunnies with you!!

Looking forward to seeing your new bunny friend when you get him/her. :)

Emily

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! :)
Thanks for the questions answered, too. I appreciate it.
As for the pictures, they'll be on here as soon as a new bunny friend graces us with his/her presence, lol. We're still doing research right now, but it shouldn't be too long. :biggrin2:

ETA forgotten answer: Yes, we've thought about a pair. It all really comes down to which bunnies are available at our local shelter when we look.
