Hi there,

My name is Kayla and I'm from Canada.

For the longest time I have wanted a rabbit, but when I lived at home, it was not possible, and in our (my boyfriend and I) first apartment,we just didn't have enough space. We are moving in April and will have a ton of extra room, so I made the conscious decision that it is time to get a rabbit! :highfive:

I have contacted a breeder locally and will be getting a Rex Rabbit (they are so cute and soft!).

I have had (and currently have) a ton of animals before, but never a rabbit. I'm hoping to find tons of information on this site and hoping to really prepare for the bun bun, lol.

If any of you have rex rabbits, or rabbit advice, I would REALLY appreciate hearing it! I was hoping to build my own cage (maybe not right away) for the rabbit too, and I've already seen lots of great pictures of home made cages on this site! :)

Nice to meet you all and hope to talk to you soon!

Welcome to RO! I knew almost nothing about rabbits before RO and now people think I'm a crazy bunny person ;-) This is definitely a great place to gather information about buns.

Thanks! I just almost finished building my rabbit cage too! I couldn't find one that I liked to buy, so I just decided to make my own. :) It's a fairly big cage, so I hope bun bun will like it. :)
Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Let me welcome you to Rabbits Online, my name is Dave and I am a moderator on the forum. So if I can be of any help please let me know. This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

I’ve listed some links I thought you might find interesting:

*For reference the Library section

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your futre bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link to a website that will help you understand what your rabbit(s) are saying to you, Rabbitspeak.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

In your profile there is a place for location. There is no rule requiring you to list the city you live in, but if you can give a general region, country, state, what part of a state or country you live in is helpful. This will give others an idea and can offer more specific help if needed.

Everyone on this forum loves to see pictures of each other’s bunnies. So if you would like to post a picture this link will help you do that, How to put photo's in your posts.

This the best site on the web for bunnies and I look forward to hearing stories and looking at pictures of your future bunny.

:wave:hello from me and my two black otter rexes - buns with attitude. not that im biased or anything but they are a great breed;) i havent had any problems with mine although i do keep an eye out for sore hocks. the guard hair on their hocks isnt as thick as other rabbits and they can be prone to sore spots. i make sure that their flooring is covered with fleeces and sheets (keep checking for nibbling). mine have their own shed - actually my utility room - which has a concrete floor. all rabbits are different and i know many bunny lovers use carpet. roxy nibbles carpet but leaves fleeces and sheets alone:p

good luck!!

Thanks so much! I'm sure I will enjoy it here as well. :) I LOVE the look of the Black Otter Rexes! They are so adorable! I think that is the colour I am going to get. :)
Thanks for the advice! I will be sure to make the floors nice and soft for them! :)

Hi Kayla, I hope you have lots of fun with your future bunny. I cannot wait til you are able to adopt one and bring it home. :D

I'm her friend and thought I would join to tag along for the adventure ;)

Haha!! Hi Jessie!

Yes I'm so excited about my future bun bun! We're going to look at possibly finishing the cage today. I'm so excited, lol!

I hope you post pics of the cage! I had a rex named Donkey who passed last year. great breed of rabbit I loved his soft fur and he was the biggest snuggle bumm!
