My family has been looking for a collie for a while now. We have had collies on our place since I was ten years old, and our last one passed away last summer at the age of 12. Well, I spotted an ad for AKC collie pups in the paper, and we went to take a look. He had eight left, out a litter of eleven! Poor mama! Anyway, they were all so pretty we couldn't decide... so we took two! One is going to wind up my puppy and live in my house, and the other is my mom's and will live in my parent's house. the tri-color is Bonnie, my little girl, and the blue merle is Blue Chip, my mom's little boy. Oh, and the kids are my older two. :biggrin2:

I'm gaga over any kind of dog and that merle pup just stole my heart. OMG thecuteness of the pair of them is unbearable! Congrats on the new additions and feel free to take a bajillion pictures to share with us!

How did you get my dream-dog? My friend and I alwaystalked aboutthe dogs we would get, usually long-haired dogs because most people don't want to take the time to brush them out to keep them in long-coat. But we always said that our dogs would be kept in theirbest coat to make others jealous over how nice our dogs looked. The dog I picked was a blue-merle collie. I used to love working on the brush-out dogs because when they were done, they knew they were beautiful. They would prance a bit and show off when their owner picked them up. I lovedknowing that the dog loved being beautiful and wasn't afraid to tell the world how beautiful they were. :D

I love the blue merle color!

Janet, too bad I didn't know you when there was a blue merle border collie at the shelter! I was totally in love with him!

Maybe one day for me, when we have a larger house and fenced yard. My hubby still misses his childhood dog who was a collie mix. How are they with rabbits?

I am being very careful about them meeting any of the rabbits as of yet. Puppies have a hrd time controlling impulses, just like little kids, LOL, and I don't want them to "learn" to chase the bunnies. Max is irriatated at me, I have been limiting his out time for the last couple of days to times when I can be right there following him around. Collies are great at protecting other animals, the one I had when I was a kid would actually "babysit" my French Lop, Leo, and make sure he didn't leave a certain area during his play time. He would also decide when Leo had been out long enough, and would nudge him back into his cage, LOL.
