Hello! I'm also a new member. I live in Laurel, Maryland and am the fostering director for Friends of Rabbits (http://www.friendsofrabbits.org), a MD, DC, and VA rabbit rescue organization. My husband and I have 3 rabbits and 10 foster buns.

I was invited to join by Randy, a fellow rescuer in NC, whom I met online.

Mia, I tried to contact the Philly shelter over the summer and never got a response. Their petfinder.com listings asked for help from rabbitrescue organizations. I emailed them and never heard back. I also called and was told that the lady who put up the petfinder listings (Jasmine) is no longer there. If I can be of assistance, let me know. I am leaving for Germany tomorrow but I'll be back on December 6th. I am in Philly quite often.

Welcome to the forum! I'd love to hear more about your own buns and your foster furries. And any advice you have on what to do while volunteering at local city shelters, I just started. I'll probably start a thread on that soon, just so I have a better idea of what best to do with my time.

Have fun in Germany!

WELCOME!

I love your avatar..... flopped bunny among his poos! :D
Thanks! That one is Frank. We took him froma local shelter the day before he was to be PTS. We've had him for about 2 months now. As you noticed, we're still working on the litter box thing. Ithasn't gone so well. :banghead:pullhair:

Well, ya know what I say? At least they are little bunner poos and not big horsey ones! :DWe can vacuum up the bunny ones!

Tony and Bo have the same issue right now - but they are competing for top poo leaver! I think Tony has beat Bo in size. ;)

Zippy, Squeaky, Frank, Zeus, Cardigan, Heino, and Brownie are my fosters. You can read more about themfrom that link. I also have threeothers I haven't listed on petfinder yet. I'll do that when I get back.

I actually just jumped right in with thefostering. I started by simplygoing to the area shelters, dropping off supplies there, and asking if they needed any help. You meet people very quickly in rescue, as I quickly found out.

Thanks to you as well, BlueGiants! That's a mighty big rabbit you've got there in your avatar!

You should go to Germany then when you get the chance. It's a really nice place to visit.
