Well, after contemplating the rattie/hamster question, the boys and I took off to petco to get supplies and see the little things. Well, my older boy was NOT having the rattie but they both, along with me, fell in love with a Syrian teddy bear hamster...His name is Max.

He has such a spunky attitude and is sooo precious. Here are some pics.

Sorry they are not the best quality! but I just had to share.

Weird, I thought I already replied to this thread! Anyway, Max is adorable! He looks so very soft and cuddly. Can't wait to hear what he's like once he's settled in! Congrats to your sons, they must be so excited to have a little pet of their own :balloons:I'm sure they will be excellent hamster "dads".

He is a cutie :)!

Please be careful with that type of cage. Those wheels have been know to cause death in small animals. Their heads or bodies can get stuck between the cage wall and wheel...causing strangulation or crushed bodies. I am not sure how it happens, but it must be quite scary. The wheel isn't removable unless you cut it out, but please look into doing that and getting either a Wodent Wheel or a Silent Spinner....these are safe wheels.

If you don't want to cut out the wheel, then you should return the cage and go to a PetSmart for a 2 level All Living Things cage.

Thx guys...Max is such a cutie and has sooo much spunk.

Snowy, Max is doing great and the boys are sooo happy.

Brandi...The lettuce was actually on the second level. It is a three level cage.

Amy...I know I am not to happy with the cage. Can I return it? I guess I could...Hey, I hope I didn't throw away the receipt!!:grumpy:

THX!

Awww, Harley is Maxs' twin! How cute! Look at that yawn!

You can return it. Wash it out, put it back in the box (if it came in one), and bring it back to Petco, and tell them that you weren't happy with the quality of the cage. If you don't have a reciept, then they will give you a gift card to use with them, I think. Then you can just stock up on bedding, food, or toys. Then head to PetSmart for an All Living Things cage....nice cages that are safe and ROOMY for your new little guy.

:)
