new hutch smells strong

just received my new hutch for my single girl oredered it yesterday so cant fault the company on the service, it was ordered from bunny business
opened the box and it smells really strongly of wood preservant
have never had a hutch that smells like this before, the oh reckons its similar to moth balls?
he also mentioned tha he spoke to omeone today who told him that apparently companies of rabbit hutches now use on some hutches a wood treatment that i poisonous to rabbit if they nibble the wood?
can anyone help on this, is it safe to use?

I would email the company & explain your concern. I would not use it myself & a reputable company shouldn't knowingly see them & if they inadvertantly do, would pay for return shipping.

I would not recommend using that hutch if the bunny does nibble on it (which he will) that could be deadly and just like Orlena said defiantly contact the company and they should refund you
