Hi

Recently moved into a house from a 1 bed flat. Chica used to stay in our open plan living room/kitchen so had a lot of interaction with us.

However, we have now got the space for her to have her own room but the room is carpeted and she is really bad for digging and chewing plus she hates being lifted so it's a struggle taking her into/out of the living room when we want her to socialise with us.

Even when she is in the living room she has decided to chew our rugs! Do you think I should move her into the kitchen so she's nearer us and will be able to hop into the living room without me worrying about her falling down stairs?

Feels like she's too far away from us when she's in her own room. Thanks!

I think keeping her in a common area is a great idea. I would give her an x-pen or build her a NIC condo as a "home base". You can shut her in when you're not home/when you go to bed and then let her out to frolic when you're around.

You can block off the living room if you don't want her in there as well as blocking off the stairs so you don't have to worry. Make sure to bunny proof any frolic areas and she should be fine :)

:yeahthat:Ours have a separate bedroom that is tiled and I put down a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet so they have traction. I've gotten them all used to being handled--my choice, not theirs so it's easier when we bring them out to the family room to run in their pen and spend time with us.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Felt it was a good idea for her having her own room but as I said I feel we are separated from her whilst we are in the living room.

Had her downstairs last night and couldn't relax as she was constantly chewing the rug!

Will look into getting a pen for her and moving her to the kitchen. If she wasn't so skittery it would be easier for me to lift her downstairs but she's a nightmare
