I have wanted a rabbit for a while now. I was going to get one several years ago, but ended up with a rescue dachshund/beagle mix and she was NOT small-animal friendly (totally worth it though, best dog ever). She has passed away and the rabbit longing began again. I have a 12 lb dachshund/min pin mix now and wanted a big rabbit. He's cat safe, but I worry when he tries to play with kittens, because he seems to get a little rough. I decided on a flemish giant, they just seemed so awesome.
I found a craigslist ad today for "flemish rabbits" that were white and black spotted. I figured they were mixed, since most come in solid colors. I didn't get to see the dad, because he passed away, but mom was not a flemish giant, she looked like a New Zealand. The babies were lovely though, and looked very big for their 8 weeks, so I went ahead and got one. It was a high school kid who owned them, not someone who was purposely being deceptive.
After some research, I realize that he must have gotten Flemish Giant confused with Checkered Giant. My bunny looks just like a checkered giant.
Here he is, just 2 months old (probably, who knows )
I didn't notice until after I took the pictures, but the spot on the other hip is in the shape of a rabbit! I'll get pictures of that later.
He has no name yet.
