Hello, just found this forum, actually. I have no idea how it escaped my radar previously.
I've had Lenore since December of 2003, she was a little under 6 months old. She's a mini-rex, chocolate brown. I didn't have too much of a clue on adopting rabbits back then, although I did do a lot of research on how to care for them. Lenore was adopted kinda quickly from a petsmart, when I heard an elementary school girl scream that she wanted "that rabbit!!" and the parents were going to give in. I had already been there buying supplies for my eventual new rabbit so... Probably not the best way to get a rabbit, but she's been good to me, so I guess we both got lucky.
My second rabbit was adopted in the fall of 2004. His name was Sirius, and he was a black lop mix. I called him grumpy, because he had a rather grumpy face and a more stand-offish personality. But he had an inner sweetie. He and Lenore got along great, inseparable. Sadly and tragically, he just recently passed away, March 24th 2010, of a heart attack. (There had been no symptoms of anything wrong previously. He had been eating, playing, grumping around, and his last vet visit had a clean bill of health) Since he was adopted, I had no idea how old he really was. Only that he was at least 7 years when he died.
To add to that mix, I also have a cat named Dinah. She was adopted in 2006, as a really young kitten who had been abandoned. Young enough that she was smaller then Sirius for a few months. She adores her rabbits. (She also thinks she's a rabbit sometimes...)
Plus, I volunteered for a local rabbit shelter for a little under a year. So I guess I know my way around rabbits!
That's about it, I guess.
