Hi there everyone!
My name is Stacey and I'm relatively new to having a rabbit. I had one when I was really little but he I don't remember much about him except that he was an outdoor rabbit. I never had much interest in rabbits until a couple months ago when I saw a show about house rabbits on animal planet and I was amazed - I had no idea they could be litter trained or were so affecitonate.
This is my little guy:
That is a picture that the shelter took of him. They think he is half american Tan and half mini lop - but that didn't really matter much to me. He is 10 months old and super friendly. He was already litter trained when I brought him home, so he got run of the house pretty quickly. When I'm laying on the floor he will run over and headbutt me to get my attention and then put his head down to be pet.
Right now he has a fairly large cage with a 4x4 pen outside of it. He goes into the cage at night while I'm at work, while I"m home sleeping he has access to his cage and the pen, and when I'm up he has the whole apartment.
I'm trying to keep him on a fairly low pellet diet - but he gets oxbow timothy pellets. He gets unlimited Timothy hay and a lot of veggies. I use the list from rabbit.org to make up his list of veggies, he probably gets about 3-4 cups of veggies a day mostly dandolion greens, radish tops, broccoli, parsley and pea pods. He gets a carrot with a leafy top at night and an occasional piece of dark green romaine. He gets other veggies as well, in small doses. I go to the store every couple days and get something new for him to try so it is getting switched up alot.
All in all I just am crazy about the little guy, and I'm excited to find a forum to help me with any issues that come up.
