Hello Everyone at Rabbits Online! This is a great idea to have a place where rabbit enthusiasts can come and share their experiences!
My experience with rabbits has been as follows: I had two Netherland Dwarf rabbits that I got when I was 9. I named them Snuggles and Heather, and they've taught me so much. They were the best of friends. They died when I was 21 (almost 12 years old!). Heather died first and Snugs followed 3 months later. I believe Snugs was just so lonely and heart-broken that she couldn't go on without her. I buried them both together at my parent's cabin, a placed they loved to visit. It's the perfect resting place for them.
After their deaths, I found I couldn't stop thinking about them. Though they're deaths were incredibly hard on me, I wouldn't trade those experiences for the world. For so long, they were my best friends. Now, at 23, I decided I was ready for another rabbit.
My boyfriend and I are now the proud parents of Freya (pronounced Fray-ah), a nine-week-old Lionhead / Netherland Dwarf mix. She's so happy and full of life; it's inspiring to watch her! She'll race through a room, running laps around the furniture and binky-ing at every opportunity! When she slows down, she loves being petted behind the ears and will sprawl with legs splayed at our sides. She also has a habit that my other rabbits didn't; when she's tuckered out, she'll sprawl on her side, then roll on her back, like a dog. I have never seen anything cuter!
Though she'll never replace Snugs and Heather, she's been the perfect addition to our small family, and we love her to pieces!
