Ok so once again i rescued an animal. I took in a lop ear male. This poor guy was being neglected. His cage was really dirty and unsanitary. They were using clumping cat litter in a litter box. That too was disgusting. Looked like they just dumped it and never really cleaned it. :? They said they were fostering it for a friend. He's super skittish from being neglected. He's just a year old. Is there some good ways to work with him? I thought before i let him out to explore we'd get him used to use by petting him the cage. He might feel safer in there. He's fast and i think we'd have a hard time getting him back in the cage at night. He does let me pet him for a minute before he gets scared and jumps. They also were not feeding him any hay. We drove an hour to get him. He's much better off with us. I'm trying to come up with a name too.

He is so cute! I have to interact a bit before coming up with a name so that is hard.

That is great you were able to rescue him and give a better life!

This sounds silly, but I read a book to Cinderella when she first came home. Of my 4 buns she was by far the most shy. I would just sit next to her cage and read out loud. After that was ok I would let her run around the room while I laid on the floor and read out loud. I didn't look at her or pay any attention when she used me for a speed bump. I put greens on the floor closer and closer to me so she would get brave. It took a couple months, but she calmed down and has turned into a tv watching, cuddly, kissy bun. :)

mine are still getting used to me ive had them over 2 weeks and its been hard work but im seeing improvements even if they're slow it makes the trouble worth it, just do things nice and slow and lots of patience x

My lionhead wasn't quite as skittish but he came around. We'd talk to him a little bit every time we passed his cage. Before we knew it he's was coming to the side of his cage for treats. Begging for treats and food too.
This new bun is the color i'd been looking for. Heres my other lop ear.

Lionbunn, your new black and white lop looks just like my Indiana Bunns that passed a couple months ago. Please give him extra kisses on his big, soft ears.

What about carmel for the new bun's name?

Oh My your bunnies are adorable:inlove:.

That was wonderful that you rescued that little Beauty.

Frckles came to mind as soon as I saw him, I know not a great name but still cute:weee:.
