How long, after bringing a new buck home, should you wait to breed them? I bought this buck, that supposedly had bred a doe 2 days ago. We got home around 4 yesterday, and it's now almost 3 o'clock. I put them both in the Xpen. Rosa definitely wanted bred, because she was trying to breed him. He, on the other hand, wanted no part of her. He ran and cringed every time she even touched him. I was going to try putting her in his cage in a few hours, to see if that helps. But right now I'm wondering if she ever even bred him, and whether the babies she said were his were really his...or one of her other bucks.

When I bring a new buck home, I give him 3 days to settle in before I use him to breed. 1 he needs to be more comfortable with the surroundings and 2 to be sure he isn't hiding some illness.
Usually I quarantine all new rabbits for at least 7 days unless I have seen the breeders other rabbits and facilities and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is nothing being harbored.
