He's such a cutie! He was born February 5, the coldest night we've had in Florida this year. Brrrr....what a cold welcome into the world!!!

My parents sell all the babies at this point, so we won't get to keep him around long, but I just love his markings! So much like his mommy.

My parents live about an hour away. I live right outside of a city, too, so there aren't too many cows around. I love visiting their ranch with my dog, Kirby. He adores racing around the yard off a leash.

I love baby cow time!
In my part of the city, every once in a while there's a small field with cows on it. I love to see the baby cows run and play in the springtime!!

He is adorable!
And I second that, what kind of cattle?
They look like the beef heifers we're haltebreaking which I think are some kind of cross, but I can't remember what sort.

Calves are so cute! I help on a farm, and I love calving season, I stay at my friends so I get to get up in the middle of the night and help! :p

I had to call my dad to find out

Bull: registered black Angus
Cows: Angus mix (mostly Angus)

Basically they're beef cows.

His name is Frost, because he was born when it was 20 degrees out and frost on the ground.

Are they sold for bottle feeding? The beef farmers here don't usually sell beef calves at this age, but the dairy farmers do because they need to take the mother's milk. I know the farm I help on often buy and bucket feed calves this age.

My dad won't sell him until late spring after he's had a chance to grow and fatten up. All of his other cows are expecting, as well. He'll bring all the babies to market at the same time. He's hoping to make enough money to sell one of his cows and get a purebred Angus cow. If he can exchange them all for big mama's, he'll make more money on the babies, and they'll have easier times giving birth. He's finding that some of his little cows are struggling giving birth. He's out there a lot of the time helping them through the process.

I thought they might be but they have a face like jerseys! SO cute! I want a calf but I could never sell one. I fall in love with them!
