My best friend gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at 6am this morning!! :pinkbouce:

She was due last Wednesday, but there was no sign of her. Rosie's water's broke at 8pm Saturday night, and by 5pm yesterday there was still no sign of labour- she was casually chatting to me on Facebook whilst I was tearing my hair out lol

She was going to have a home birth and had the pool set up and everything, but ended up in hospital and having an epidural lol- I presume because of the long delay in beginning labour....

She called me at 7am to tell me she'd been born just an hour earlier- she called me even before her cousin (who is also my friend and they're very close)- although I'm sworn to secrecy on that lol...

Her name is Daisy Eva Imogen. She's 8lbs 14oz. Her cousin has just sent me a little pic of her and she's GORGEOUS!!!! Head full of black hair already!

I cannot wait to see her!

Thanks guys :)

I know that nobody knows her or anything, but I was just so excited I had to share it somewhere! Me and her cousin have been having a crappy time of it recently but this just cheered us up no end. My friend has wanted a baby for the longest time as well- since she was 16 but not in a 'trashy' sense- she just loves children- she's got 4 nephews and neices and is brilliant with them all. Her and her partner were over the moon when they found out, and I'm just SO happy for her! :biggrin2: Plus I've never known anyone close to me that's had a baby before, so I get to spoil her no end:D They're going to be such great parents :)

We have been playing 'security guards' all day though- a couple of our friends just assumed that we'd all be going to see her and the baby, like today? Me and the new mummy's cousin have had to politely tell everyone that she's not going to be up for visitors and to give her a bit of space.... jeez! She's not slept for 2 days and she's just given birth- she doesn't want people piling in already lol :X I told my friend that I'd love to go and see them but I'd leave it up to her to tell me when she's ready...

Jen, thank goodness you are there to be security. I wish I had someone when I had Luke. I had him at noon and when they put me in my room, people came in (it was about 2 pm) and the last ones left at 10:30 that night. Visiting hours ended at 9 pm.

I was so tired and needed to go to the bathroom but wouldn't cause I was afraid to get out of bed/embarassed to hobble around in a gown, etc. I had some complications so I couldn't change into regular clothes for a day.

It ended up causing me more problems and I went to get Luke since I hadn't had him all day - which woke him up and screwed up his schedule.......

It wasn't a pretty thing.......

Yikes! That sounds awful! I would have been your security! I'm not normally good at telling people 'what for' but I was quite good at it today lol...

I fail to understand why people would think it would be ok to just go straight round like that?! Surely it's common sense that the new mummy is going to be tired and want some peace after going through all that lol...

My friend called me up this morning, asking if I'd spoken to Rosie (I think she was a bit miffed that I had and she hadn't, but oh well)- she said 'well not to hassle her or anything, but try and find out when we can go and see her!' She was also the one saying before she was born 'imagine if she was born on New Year's Eve! We'd all have to go down to the hospital after we'd been drinking!':shock::shock::shock: :disgust:

I feel bad for Rosie because she had planned a home birth and she wanted her partner, her sister and the midwife there- that's it. Their flat is tiny, and you just really don't want people crowding round at a time like that I'd imagine. But her almost MIL was not taking the hint and was pretty much insisting that she was going to be there. Rosie and her partner had dropped many hints- 'don't change your plans, we'll call you when she's born, the flat will be crowded anyway' etc, but she just wasn't getting it. Poor Rosie felt like she was just going to have to put up with her being there, and wasn't looking forward to it so much. Made me MAD!

And man I have rambled a lot! :p

Congrats to your friend! I am sorry her home birth didn't work out. It also would have kept visitors away easier. i found people felt happier to call to hospital than arrive at your door step. i had three home births and the only people allowed to call were those laden with food and ready to help out. last thing you need is people you feel you have to entertain£

When my mam had her last baby my aunt went in straight away and took a picture of her sleeping so the flash would wake her up, who does that!

I SAW HER!!!

I actually saw a little newborn baby!! Can you tell I've never done that before? Lol...

This morning, after I got back from the supermarket with my mum, my friend called and said that they were keeping her and baby in a second night and she would love me to go in and meet her! I called a taxi and hot-footed it down there pronto :D

She's in a second night because when she was in labour, her temp went up to 40.3 *C  and she went blue, and very very delerious..... The baby is fine but they did tests and have had them both on precautionary antibiotics, just to be on the safe side.

ANYWAY.... I held her! For about half an hour! She is SO perfect! She has the cutest little grumpy face, looks exactly like her dad, and she's just so, so beautiful. I pretty much started crying lol. My arm was aching so much it felt like it would fall off but it was soooo worth it to cuddle her. :D:D:D:D

Sorry lol... I'm just a bit excited about it!

Did she SMELL good? they usually smell wonderful and their skin is SO soft!

I learned really early to put a pillow under the arm holding their head LOL! I babysat newborns when I was just 13 years old. :shock:Can you believe that? I would never let a 13 year old watch my babies LOL! but I was really responsible and loved the babies.

They are just so perfect and warm and snuggly.

Congratulations to you and your friend!! Babies do tend to have that sweet smell. You'll never forget holding that little girl. One of my favorite memories was when I was 12 years old and was the second person to hold my firstborn niece!!

OMG I LOOOOVE THEIR SMELL.....

YES! She smelt....like newborn baby!! People always say that but I never realised it until yesterday! I didn't sniff her too much though, didn't want mummy and daddy thinking I was odd lol :p

She has the cutest little grumpy face, and her eyes and nose are quite swollen because of a contraction when she was that far out, but she does the cutest little arm waves, and sticks her tongue out! She will smile one second, then go back to frowning the next lol...

Oh dear I must stop all this baby talk before I get broody or something!
