Well, I decided not to get that New Zealand rabbit this week. The little guy was only 5 weeks old (JUST), and honestly, I think that is too young to be rehoming. So I decided to pass on the opportunity. There will be others I believe.

Sorry you didn't get your New Zealand but I think you did the right thing. I'm sure you will find the right bun at the right time.

Definitely did the right thing given its age. Unfortuntely, it's just as likely the breeder will find another home for the rabbit before it's 8 weeks old. I'm sure another one will turn up soon.

5 weeks? That's terrible. I absolutely can't stand the people that sell their babies too early or, even worse, sell them as soon as they're born. "We just had a litter 5 minutes ago, they'll be ready to be for sale in 6 weeks", etc.

It was the right thing for you to have done and I'm sure you'll find something even better :)

I don't mind that to an extent, because it's giving an owner time to find good homes for them for when they're of age. Especially if you can't really keep the babies beyond 12 weeks or something (though obviously you need to be prepared to if you can't sell all of them anyway), it means that you're not rushing to find homes at the end and just giving them away to whoever. Having said that, it does seem a bit strange to be advertise them straight away, especially when in some cases it can be hard to tell colours and especially genders.

I don't mind if people start looking for people to buy one of their bunnies when they are born.. I look for potential owners before I breed. Just to be sure that there is enough people who want bunnies. We breed strictly for pets, so that works for us. I do however, have a litter that is due on Monday, and have not advertised. I will advertise them once they hit 8 weeks old.

I just don't understand how people let them go earlier than they are ready. My kits stayed with their mom until they were 6 weeks old, and now are in their own pens getting used to being away from mom.
