Willl neutering eliminate humping and marking (pooping all over) all together? Ripley doesn't spray at all (thank you bunny!!) so neutering would be primarily for his long-term wellbeing and to get him to quit humping. Just curious if that will end it. He's about 71/2 months but by the time we have him fixed he'll probably be 9 months.

Thanks!

It probably varies by the rabbit. Honey leaves pebbles around her xpen when she's stressed, as she has been since her vet visit this wee. And it should slow down the humping as well. [Unless or until you get a companion rabbit.] But I have a suspicion that the longer it is before a rabbit is neutered, the more likely he is to keep doing it.

yeah, that's my suspicion too. :[ I was somehow hoping I was wrong. =P Just trying to decide if its really that worth doing it or not if it won't help these 2 behavior things. I'd hate to put him through it if its really not going to make a huge difference.

I would have done it sooner, but before he was too young. But it's cold here and until its a little warmed outside I don't want to stress his respiritory system. Maybe Now would still do it? He's 7 mo. so I know he's already pretty old. I still hesitate to do it until its warmer out so adjusting back to his hutch outside isn't an issue. hmm.

Sometimes rabbits aren't fixed until they're several years old, though this usually involves a change in ownership. I guess it depends on how much his behaviors bother you.

Yeah Harvey was a year or so when I got him neutered. I had only had him for a few short months tho.

It completely stopped the humping and the spraying. He's not too bad with poop, but I'm not too bothered by that.

We have yet to neuter cookie... He is abt 18 months old... I've never seen him hump yet... Lol we've only had him 3 weeks so maybe that "fun" is yet to come... He doesn't spray either and is very good with urine in his litter box... He does mark his pen/new toys...etc. with poops tho... but not often outside of his pen does he drop any... So I don't mind...

We are planning on getting him fixed at some point tho just for his over all health and because we will prob want him to start dating at some point ;) and don't want any babies! But our vet recommended waiting til spring because then his testicles will prob be more easily found... He really hid them well when we were there for his check up! I guess the hormones are more pronounced in the spring or something?

At 18 months, the testicles would be clearly visible. I'm going to assume you meant 18 weeks? For Mr Bighead, he had huge testicles before he was neutered! He was probably around 1 at the time. Humping disappeared after he was fixed. That is, excluding the very rare dominance hump on Missespants.

No 18 months... They are very visible sometimes but our vet explained that they can move around up into the abdomen at times of stress which we saw... They we no where to be seen while being examined and then 20 minutes later, while getting his nails trimmed they were suddenly clearly visible lol crazy bun!

Toby didn't start acting up until 14/15 months. No idea why, but he decided then was a good time to start being a brat. Guess the hormones hit some harder than others.

So do you think that since I've left him until 7 mo. that neutering will still stop his humping?
