I'm interested in getting Briar neutered and ingetting a companion for him (probably Bramble (unspayed)) could someoneplease tell me the cost of getting a buck neutered and/or a doe spayed, please?

Depends upon where you live and "what trafficwill bear". Lowest I've read was $40.00 on up toahigh, here in NJ, Of $300.00 for the same procedure.

We utilize the services of a community organization called Animal BirthControl, which "brokers" inexpensive neutering procedures with a localveterinarian hospital. Only caveat is one must funnel allmonies through ABC and use its veterinarian of choice, whocoincidentally happens to be our veterinarian of choice also.It is a win/win for us for the cost is roughly half the regular price.

Some civic organizations, like local SPCS's, animal controldepartments, animal rescue center, perform these services for you atnominal fees, or in some cases, entirely free! Do check themout before spending a lot of money unnecessarily.

Bo was right at $100 and then I added a blood test that was optional. It was about $40 and worth it for me.

There are places that I have heard $50 and up......

**shrieks** EEEEEEE!!! **claps hands together**no babies yet, i don't think she was ever pregnant:(:(. BUT! i've beentalking to my parents about the options, to rebreed or not to rebreed.then, i came up with the BRILLLIANT idea of adopting another bun:D:D:D,instead of kits. i know i've been so "gung-ho" about having kits, andit was very disappointing:( that she isn't pregnant (at leastwe're all pretty sure she isn't). this was my speech to them:

"Hey, mom. you know what i was talking about earlier? about how i don'tthink Bramble was ever pregnant? (nods head, takes bite of chickenfetuchinni alfredo) Well, i know there's TONS of buns out there waitingtobe adopted, and i've been thinking, that instead ofrebreeding Bramble, which might not work out, and it would've been a'mix' anyways, although it was for the county fair, there's always therisk of complications and not being able to findappropriatebuyers at the fair. but, if we adopt another bun, it's giving another, homeless bun, a second chance, not to mention that Bramble and Briarwould have another buddy." (as of right now, it's a maybe, for once inmy life, mom says no, and dad says yes.)

this was my speech about neutering briar at one of those "free places":

"Hey, mom. you remember what i was talking about earlier ( i know, iknow, same opening, but, i kinda dumped this all on them at the dinnertable, and am now going back agian, asking them, so they know i'm forreal about this.) about nuetering briar at one of those "freeplaces." well, how 'bout it? if it's free."

reply, "well,i dunno, we'll talk about it later,it'sa nothing at the moment, now, Ellie, do not giveme that look. if we're going to get chickens, i'm not sure i want to doanything with the rabbits at the moment."

ARGGG!!! hopefully i'll get another bun and be able to neuter briar sohe can bunk with his beloved (bramble). i'm not even sure i'll want torebreed Bramble if i can't get another bun. wish me luck in my begging!lol.

I think getting your pet spayed for free at anSPCA is a good idea, but I think I would rather take Cosmo to a vet Itrust and just pay for it. Nothing is too good for him, andI'll pay whatever as long as he gets treated well. I thinkthe expense is worth it....

Bramble-I just wanted to let you know to keep bugging your mom aboutgetting those rabbits neutered/spayed. I think it is actuallymore important to get your girl spayed than your boy neutered...youdon't want her getting cancer at the age of 3 do you???

That's a very good point VNess, maybe i'll getthem both fixed. Right now i just have to do some research on whichclinic around here actually does it, and if i can trust them. but, ithink that they're pretty good, my neighbor got like six or so of hiscats fixed there. i just don't know if they know about rabbits, andtheir needs during surgery.

I paid $190 (including blood work). Remember that justbecause a rabbit is fixed doesn't mean it will get along with otherrabbits. ;)
